Cool Andy. I'll check it out.

When I first heard Jerry Byrd's "Sand" I immediately thought of this tune. I think JB used the same intro?

I had the exact same impression back in '88 or so when I first heard "Sand". I wrote JB about it and he replied that he knew lots of Django tunes but didn't know "Nuages" and doubted that there could be any connection.
Coincidence? Or was Andy Iona a Django fan? I think he played Jazz sax.

The beginning of Nuages also sounds like the beginning of the theme song from the old Jackie Gleason Variety Show (or was it the Honeymooners?).

The theme to the Jackie Gleason Variety Show is called Melancholy Serenade, and Jackie Gleason gets credit for writing it. There is some resemblance to Nauges in the opening lines. I have looked for the sheet music to Melancholy Serenade for years so I could do a harmonically sound version for steel guitar but had no luck finding it. Nauges looks like a nice project for the time being.
