I have a 11 string I think Melobar . The strings are sure messed up with large wound ones in the middle and the tunning is weard. It is a old one Red color with the body shaped like a guitar that is removeable with 2 screws .

Hi Ron,

Sounds like one of the old 70's models that was tuned with a Major chord on the outside 6 strings and a Minor chord on the inside 4 strings. 11 string is very odd, someone must have added a string at a later time.

My advice on those is to remove the nut and bridge and re-set it up with a 6 or 8 string tuning.

You can email me pictures of it at ted@melobar.com for identification.

You might check www.melobar.com under the Specials Icon on the beginning page, there are some older models there for sale that might help you I.D. it.

I have seen and played a "melobar" guitar,I think it is a great guitar and the quality is unsurpassed.

I hear more and more about them all the time
I know that they are back logged on orders,,,as they do take pride in their product and dont manufacture them in quantity
,,,but only in Quality,,,,its only a matter of time before I get one of those babies.

Hi Ted,,,,will be in touch,,Happy Holidays to you and your's...you have a great guitar there. I have a few friends who own Melobar guitars and they love them....

Dont forget to ask Ted to play "Fireball Mail
for you. He plays the heck out of it.

Merry Christmas to all of you & yours.

Have to second Jody's opinions on the new Melobars- I love my Melobro and get comments on it's sound and looks at every recording session or gig I play it on. fantastic instruments, great people. Worth the wait!

returning from a trip to her sister's in TX My wife surprised me with a Melobar 6 string lap steel- dark brown single PU, I don't know model or what... about 6 yrs old. It is ONE ROCKIN little machine! . Padded on the back, it will lay up on top of my PSG without sliding off..

what model might that beTed??

(I know this thread is about the older stand-up guitar body shaped ones like Rusty Young played, but my newer one is a dandy)

Thank you Mark,
Probably an older LS model Dave, but I'm just guessing without seeing it. Those evolved from the PB to the L model to the LS model to the SLS model before it split into the Rattler - SXL models. I believe that except for the Steelgitr, with the tilt neck and standard neck on the same body, - the Outrigger will replace the old original Skreemr style on the post here. The Outrigger makes it so you can play it on your PSG like you said, lap, or stand up and strap it on like a Dobro. And the right hand is farther away from your body making it more comfortable to play. With the pin router, we are trying to get up to speed, we'll probably still have most of the models - but in very, very, limited supply. Wife's getting a bit tired of the sacrifices we've had to make to keep creating newer lap steels.

If any of you order Ted's guitar,,ask for the
arrangement to "Fireball Mail" to be included
with the order...that alone is worth the price.

Hey DVA "buy one of those",,,,
