I'm wondering what type of cleaner I should use to clean the nickle-plated coverplate on my Regal resonator? Living down here in Florida, it gets that "filmy" sort of coating after being played outdoors. Of course, I keep it indoors and in the case when I'm not playing it.

Also, while were on the subject, I need to clean the tuner pans and other chrome parts on my Stringmasters, too. Would the same sort of cleaner/polish work for these, too?

Or, should I just do the old-fashioned "slightly damp cloth" instead, and avoid any cleaning solution altogether? My concern with doing that is moisture and the potential for any rusting of parts.

Thanks in advance!

Mothers Chrome Polish ... non-abrasive .... Wal-Mart has it.

Mothers also has a Al/Mg polish ... I never tried it ??? ... I went for the Chrome Polish.

Semichrome works for tough jobs ... but it is slightly abrasive. Motorcycle shops carry it.

Along with those suggestions white vinegar makes a great degreaser and is totally non-abrasive (and non-nasty like many cleaners) If the cover is chromed Windex works great too. Don't use ammoniated cleaners on Nickel though.

All times are Pacific (US)
