I was wondering if anyone here has tried using the Fender Acoustasonic SFX amp with their lapsteel or resonator? I heard one of these amps with acoustic guitar and vocals, and it sounded fantastic. That 300 degree faux "surround sound" technology is pretty dang cool.

I was entertaining the idea of using one to play my Stringmaster T-8 through, along with my backing tracks (bass/ukulele parts created on a Roland VS digital recorder) and vocals. I have a P.A. already, but this might be a great setup for the smaller gigs, which comprise about 60% of my work. Load in, set-up, tear-down and load out would be a lot quicker, too.

The guy I heard was playing in the lounge area of a restaurant, with seating for about 40+, and it was plenty full and rich sounding. I'm just not sure how the steel would sound through it, though, I gotta think it would be pretty nice.

Anyone use one, or at least tried one?

I will give this a try.
I have a Fender Acoustisonic Pro. It does great with my acoustic guitars with the Fishman pickups/blenders. I like the sound of a resonator with the Fishman reso pickup. Very good job of killing feedback with the notch filters.
The FX are pretty good. The reverb does not match a Fender tube amp reverb, but... it is good enough.

I have played my Stringmaster through it. Sound is good for a small venue. Lots of FX settings.
I don't think it could handle a live band situation.
It does sound good in my den with a CD player, microphone with a poor singer, and a Stringmaster.
