Topic: Gibson Console Grande, current value?

I have a friend who is selling a 1954 Gibson Console Grande D-8 in pretty nice shape. It's all original, including the brown case, except for a small route on the underside of the body where someone tried to add pedals. What is a fair price for this guitar? |

Solidbody Console Grand's with P-90's seem to go for $800-$1000 in good shape.A beater recently went on Ebay for $450. |

The rout in the bottom of the guitar will keep the instrument from bringing top money. That is a very serious negative to collectors of these instruments. |

With a bit of luck it won't go to a collector and actually will become a nice gigging instrument.Graham |

Fill in the Rout with plastic-wood, and spray with a little Flat-Black, and you may feel better about the imperfection! Hopefully the 'router' had some feeling for the instrument and didn't booger it up too much! Good Luck!------------------
