This pristine Fender Deluxe 6 lap steel I just got has serial number 0036. It's got the trapezoidal pickup that has the strings running thru it. Anyone know the date?

Thanks,

Auset Parks

Fender steels cannot be dated by serial number. Remove the tuner pan and you sould see the month and year handwritten on the wood in pencil.

Dating the volume/tone control pots is also another good method. See Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars for pot date codes or post your pot numbers here and one of us will help

All times are Pacific (US)
