Hi: My 6-string Supro has the serial # G13954, and is white. Does anybody know the model name and year it was made? I bought it for $100 from a guitar store in Vancouver BC some years ago. I checked on Brad's Page of Steel, but couldn't find anything that matched. Thanks in advance, Harry ------------------

That serial number is from 1963.Can you provide more in the way of a description -- the shape of the body ... painted or pearloid body ... the color and shape of the plate around the pickup, etc? |

Russ: Let's see now... It's painted, topsides all white except for the fretboard which is black (except for the geometrically shaped location markers which are white). It has a 23" scale length (nut to bridge), and I guess it has one of those "string through the middle pickups" that the boys on the Forum have been talking about recently. The pick-up plate is quite large, square with the tone control on the bass side of the strings (towards the player) and the volume control on the other. No legs and gently tapered streamlined look. And fun to play! Thanks for your help. HW------------------

Harry -- Brad has photos of all the Supro steels that were in production in 1963 ... at least according to Gruhn's Guide. Whatever it is you have, have fun with it!In case you're not sure what a Valco string-through pickup looks like, here's a picture. |

Thanks Russ:Yep that's the pickup all right. The lap steel in the image you provided was a Consul 8 I think. I also have a Consul 8 with the serial # T49599. Any idea in what year it was made?? Thanks again for the information. HW

T49599 is a 1960 serial number -- the Console 8 was only made 1958-60. |
