Anybody have any experience with Dyson lap steels? They make two different models.

No experience here with the steels in question, but I just wanted to comment that the bridge pickups seem awfully far from the bridge. That configuration on the Canopus steels resulted in really yucky tone.

Good point. But maybe that guitar just has yucky tone? It's so hard to know without moving the pickup. Sustain is another matter.

Personally, I'll take Jeff's word for it. If he didn't truly believe it in his heart to be an accurate assessment, he wouldn't have said it. Don't underestimate this young man's expertise......

Yes, i'm not really questioning him. I want to hear more from Jeff. It's me who has no expertise; at least in the steel guitar area. I'm just trying to learn.

it would be nice to get the lower-priced one and add a strat-pup between bridge and existing p-90. I really hate their second pickup location, look out or it will grab your bar!!!!!!!!!!!

The headstock is kinda cool, woodwork looks good.

Hey Dan,
Why don't you drop by and play some of my steels? I'll loan you one for a while. Nice seeing you at that vintage show a few weeks ago.
