I had a friend bring a Hawaiian 6 string acoustic guitar to me to-day asking if I might be able to identify the instrument. The Inscription inside reads: Bellevue Musical Art Ltd., London Ont. The R.S. Williams & Sons Co. Ltd., 431 King St. West, Toronto, Ont. Serial Number on the stock head: 168H It does not appear to be an expensive guitar but altho it is aged it plays very well and has a nice Hawaiian tone. I was just wondering if anyone might be familiar with this instrument? In the case there is a little booklet with tablature for Song Of The Islands, My Bonnie etc. It was undoubtly made for the early Hawaiian market when they were going door to door signing up students in the 1940's,,,,I suspect. Any comments? |

If you could post a photo of the instrument, it'd be a lot easier to try to identify it. Without a better description or a photo, there's almost no way to tell who made it, when, or where.------------------ Brad's Page of Steel A web site devoted to acoustic & electric lap steel guitars | |
