I doubt you'll find very much material written expressly for any one tuning. It matters not what the tuning is. You can pickup many Hawaiian song folios in notation which also show the chords. Really not a problem.

I can recommend Henry K. Allenīs Hawaiian Steel Guitar Book of Songs. It comes with 2 CDs. Not exactly a bargain - 75 USD - but you get 17 tastefully arranged Hawaiian songs with musical notation tablature and chords . Look at www.henrykallen.com

Listen to Barney Isaacs' last CD with George Kuo. Barney played a Dobro and most if not all the tunes were in a C6 tuning.

Such simple, beautiful little arrangements... just a Dobro and a slack key rhythm guitar. It lowers my blood pressure when I listen to this CD.

Craig.

Hi Andy:

This may be your lucky day.

Do you want Hawaiian songs with notes or tablature? In either case there is a lot out there.

For Hawaiian songs in tablature write for a catalogue to:

Jerry Byrd
PO Box 15026
Honolulu, HI 96830

He has arranged many Hawaiian songs in Tablature in the C-6th tuning as well as other tunings.

For books of Hawaiian songs with notes and words.

Go to the internet and type in:
Harry's Music Store

Or write:
Harry's Music Store
3457 Waialae Avenue
Honolulu, HI 96816
Ph: 808-735-2866

There are other music stores in Honolulu that carry many Hawaiian song books. At the moment I cannot remember the names. Sorry

Also you can check the internet for:

Elderly's Instruments
Phone: 888-473-5810

However, I believe their supply of Hawaiian song books is limited.

Hope this helps.

Don

Scotty's Music used to have the list of Jerry Byrd arrangements online. It was sort of a public service - they didn't sell them directly but they had the information about how to order them from Jerry Byrd.

It's no longer on the website. However, here's a link to an archive of the webpage on archive.org. It will give you an idea of what's available. NOTE: THE LIST IS PROBABLY OUT OF DATE. YOU SHOULD SEND AWAY FOR THE OFFICIAL CATALOG.

The arrangements are very good. Some are pretty advanced, but you can always simplify them.

What is nice about Gary's post leading to the archive of Jerry's tabs is that it gives one a good representative listing of Jerry's Tab arrangements. However, the list is not up to date. There are 211 tabs in the new list, including the diatonic tuning.

I believe that it is still advisable to send for the up-to-date Tab list from Jerry and get the ordering form from him, which is what he requests.

Aloha no,
Don
