I'm looking at Gibson BR-9 that someone has for sale but it is missing one of the volume/tone knobs. Is there are source for replacements that anyone knows about?

what do they look like? you can buy reproductions of the gold colored ones, both the kind with the skirt, and the kind that are straight sided. i don't know if anyone makes the clear ones anymore.

Where would you buy the reproductions?

Allparts has the gold ones with no numbers (part# PK_3230-032). The clear ones without numbers are hard to find. Go here to get to the knobs:

Good luck.

The later style gibson "hat" or speed knobs are not correct but would work fine. I have not seen the correct BR9 knob for sale anywhere but you mught find them in a parts bin at a guitar show.
I looked at antique electronics and they have some neat old radio knobs but not the correct type for a BR9

Here is a pic of the correct BR9 knobs.

Many knobs used on early electric guitars, even into the 50s were radio knobs of the era. I have found correct replacement on ebay. Search "radio knobs" and "radio knob. Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up, Gary.

It has been 3 days since Bill M. checked back in here, and since I could also use those knobs listed on eBay and didn't want to see both Bill and I miss that opportunity, ...I purchased them (it was a B.I.N. only auction). I will be delighted to sell them back to Bill for what I paid should he desire them. Shipping and insur was $3.30. I will also be delighted to take Bill's one knob in trade for half the price of the 2, so that he will have a color / condition matched pair for the price of one.

But let's wait until I get them and can check them out; They look they might have to be carefully modified to fit a guitar pot shaft.

Aloha,
DT~

Opps, How'd I miss this post. Thanks for pointing out the knobs and thanks for buying them. At this point, I haven't decided on the Gibson. I was supposed to see it today, but I was unable to get away. I'm planning on checking it out next week when I'll know if I'm buying it or not.

So keep the knobs for now. If I buy the unit, I'll contact you about picking up the knobs. Thanks for watching out for me, and sorry I didn't see this post earlier.
