Is there a thread here that would help the novice ID the diference between the Duals, Stringmasters, Deluxes, Champs, Champions, etc?

I've spent many an hour prior to joining the Forum and never found what I'd call a definitive guide. As an example, the Deluxe 8 that Rick Id'ed for me, the previous owner insisted was a Champion because it didn't have legs. Is that a deciding factor between the Deluxe and Champion? Well, rather than keep guessing I'm going to let you folks guide. Once we get it all in writing maybe we can create a "sticky" like some of the other sites do. That way all the details will be in one place.

Thanks!

For excellent written descriptions of Fender (and other brands) steel guitars check out George Grun and Walter Carter's book GRUHN'S GUIDE TO VINTAGE GUITARS. Most of the minutia of the various models are detailed there.

All times are Pacific (US)
