Never Been there or done that before....How many of you are planning on attending?
Are you all planning on playing on stage?
OR, do you prefer to do the midnight jams? Mighty curious about the program........... |

Thanks fellows.........very much!I'm honored that Gerald Ross has invited me to do a turn on Friday morning....... Can't wait to get there and get in on the excitement but admittedly, doing stage type performances is totally new and strange for this olde codger. Will the airlines allow me to tuck my Epiphone Electar amp and my Rick beneath the seat? or WHAT? I can't imagine allowing some baggage handler to toss this equipment from the tail of the airplane to the nose or dropping it off one of those mechanized, belt driven thingies that carry the bags to the height of the aircraft baggage compartment like they did Jerry Byrd's amp that was going home with Scotty. I"ve seriously given some tho't to driving but with gas so high, one could likely BUY an airplane and fly it back oneself. |

We are honored that you are playing for us Ray!You really don't need an amp. There are always an assortment of Fender amps on the stage for your performance. And during the jam sessions you can just plug into what ever is available, and there are always available amps. It's up to you though, you might want it to warm up in your room or whatever. Your Rick Bakelite should fit in the overhead of the airplane with no problem. It will count as one of your carry on items. Again, I am speaking from my personal experience on airplanes, your carrier may have different rules. BTW - I just added your name to the Friday AM schedule. ------------------

I never got to see Jerry Byrd in person ... so I'm super excited now that Ray is goin' ...Even the most advanced "ear" would be fooled into thinking JB was playin' on that award winning Manny K. CD ... ------------------

Ray, I believe that I can speak to the question. I do not know how many are coming. Not every one coming will play on stage. Over Forty persons will be playing on stage but more will be attending who do not play, even though most of them are steel guitar players. The reason: The Fear Factor - These however may be the smart people, because they save themselves of going through a special kind of turmoil (called tension) playing or performing for a bunch of steel guitar players. The rest of us may love the turmoil, be gluttons for punishment or just love a challenge, but we still have fun. Some of those not performing love to play in the jam sessions because of the informality. No pressure, it is just let your hair down and play, sometimes all night. You can tell who they are the next day.  It will be a great experience for you, Ray. Aloha,
