I've decided to get a lap steel. Love the looks of the Dustpan and the JB fry pan. Can't spend that much right now.Normally I don't buy vintage instruments, but I've seen some neat looking Nationals like the Dynamic, New Yorker and Chicagoan. My gig is country. Is there anything in the National lap steel line that I should prefer or avoid? Should I get another brand? TIA, Charlie |

Charles, a Supro Supreme or one of its clones might be the way to go for you. Check out this thread and this thread. |

There's still some good deals on vintage instruments to be had if you keep a sharp eye out Charles. Good luck |

I have a Nation Clipper from the early-'50s, that is one of my main axes. Gruhn in Nashville always has something in stock.GM |

Pardon me while I hijack this thread...Rick - noticed that Kelly Joe Phelps autograph on the back of one of your Supros. Nice! I've seen him play a couple times, and he just blows me away, whether playing lap style or just fingerpicking. Amazing chops and a soulful singer. Most people I know have never heard of him. It's a shame. |
