No, I'm not nervous! An old lap steel I have has wobbly legs. More precisely, the threaded pieces that screw the leg into the plates on the body are a little loose in the leg tubes. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix this with as little trauma to the legs as possible? I know that I can drill three holes and use three small screws in each leg, but that's an option of last resort. The threaded pieces don't come out of the tubes at this point, but I suppose with enough force they can be removed. What about something like JB Weld?

Thanks!

You can drill a single hole all the way through the entire pair , and then Tap a 1/4 - 20 Thread - after that put a single screw of choice.

This is a solid fix and not too visible.

I am certain there are other solutions that will be offered in this thread,

I've read where guys have taken the legs to a welding shop or maybe even a radiator shope and have someone just do a small spot weld on the loose part.

More than half the steel guitars I've worked on had this problem with that threaded insert plug.
I fixed it every time by doing this.
Work that plug out by using a thin flat head around; so that it works its way out about a 1/2".
Then mix some JB Weld; and goop it into that 1/2" crack all the way around. Then slam the leg down so that the insert slams shut....>wipe off excess JB Weld and let sit overnight and wala....No more wobble.

Ricky-I had a wobbly insert on one of my guitars. Your idea sounds like an easy solution. Thanks...al
