I'm kinda in the market for a new guitar. I was going to get another Stringmaster, but then I remembered seeing some great new stuff from Lap King. Just my style and supporting a living luthier! Their website has been sort of shut down.
Anyone know what's up?

I heard from Jason about a week ago, everything seemed normal then. I'm sure it's just a temporary hiccup...

Here a photo of Jerry Douglas with his Lap King Bel Aire:

Pat, that photo is from Hardly Strictly Bluegrass earlier this month.

Did you go?

Jerry is pretty stoked about his new Lap King. It sounds great.

Jason built him a "standup mount" that is a bit like the unit on the MSA SuperSlide that kind've rests against one's mid section, to help support it for standup playing.

Here it is from a thread last month:

Howdy folks,
Sorry about the site being down, I had no idea. It will be back up tomorrow according to Netfirms.
I got to hear and meet Jerry Douglas last Sunday in Boston. He opened for Paul Simon. Holy S@#! was that an awesome show!!
Jerry had gotten me some tickets alright...2nd row on the floor, dead center stage & back stage passes. Trust me folks if you like Jerry's recordings, live is about 100 times better (believe it or not)
He wailed on the Bel Aire! I was so phyched.
It was totally awesome to see her in front of thousands of people in HIS hands! That guy is amazing.
The crowd went nuts over it. He played two tunes with it. It was absolutely thrilling for me. I LOVED hearing it loud!
Then the icing on the cake was being that close for Paul Simon! Another legend! Me and my wife had the time of our lives.
Sorry, I hijacked the thread.....
Not to worry I am still alive and on the case. If it wasn't for Steinar saying "What's up?" I would have had no idea. Apparently you have to renew your domain name AND hosting package seperatly.
Although in my defense why the heck would someone renew their name and not the site?!
I'll be back tomo.
Steinar, I'll be emailing you a little later.

Well Jason, unlike us mere mortals-sounds like you and the missus got the red carpet treatment!

Congratulations and thanks for the story.

COOL!!!!
Mark, I did not go. Not my scene, I like Bluegrass music, and I had a gig out west of Redwood Valley. My Brother was there with Earl Scruggs. I'm looking forward to seeing you again at the SJ Jam. Too bad Todd won't be with me. Have you checked out our band website? www.boundtoridebluegrass.com .
Jason, glad to see you're still up and kickin'. I'll check your site again and drop you a line.
Steiner, thanks for slappin' Jason awake!
Patrick
