Actually, you can give me your Mastercard number if that's o.k., Jody. Your Dad was quite a striking man! You are indeed lucky to have played professionally with your father and to have had such a close relationship with him. It was always my wish for my 3 "children" to play with their dad, but it was not to be. I'll bet that was a great sounding group!!!

It was an honor to have such a great dad,,many people are not aware,,,but my dad was co-writer of "Blue Christmas" with Billy
Hayes. What transpired during this time will be in my book.

Also Frosty the Snowman and Peter Cottontail
co wrote with Jack Rollins,,,that too will be in my book. Quite an interesting story & it will tell what kind of a man my dad was.

My dad met Leo Fender and Don Randall years back when I was first starting out. They both
thought a great deal of my dad.

Jay Johnstone became the ghost writer of Blue Christmas,,but I wont go into that now.

One of my favorite songs he co-wrote with Jack Rollins was "That Miss From Mississippi
recorded by Roy Rogers on RCA Victor back in 1947 with Spade Cooleys band backing,Joaquin
played a great solo (as usual) on that song.

I have many pleasant memories of my past and I will tell most all of these in my book.

"The Last Fender Guitar".

Thanks for the compliments,,,my dad was better looking in person distinguished and a man of class personified.

Jody. I have to add a copywrite to this for obvious reasons,,pls excuse me.

Quite the man, your Dad. "Blue Christmas" is always a favorite around these parts. I had no idea of the connection, Jody. It will now have more meaning to me when we play it each year. Seems I recall when Elvis recorded that song, there was a musicians strike going on at the time...it was all "doo-ahh" vocal backup...(or, perhaps I'm confusing it with another song.)

Okay , Carver, here's the deal -see - these pants are too hot and too damn tight. You want your pants back, right? Meet in front of Rockefller Center on Friday night at 2:00am. Bring a Fender Stringmaster double or Custom Triple. You get the pants I get the guitar. Deal? If you ever want to see your pants again, be there no cops and no funny stuff or the pants become a pair of cut offs with all that icky fringe hanging off.

ps if you don't show, I'll just add these to my "Pants of the Stars" collection.

pps what a handsome lad - and apparently, no stranger to fringe.

I knew you couldn't stay on the "fringe" for long, Jody. You're the best - in every way, buddy and anyone who plays steel who doesn't buy your book is going to be missing something really special.

My book is crawling along ... laying out chapters, finding art & photos - getting rights & permissions, etc. It'll be a while but I intend it to be a visual treat so stay tuned.

Why I'd bet Jody even knows the lyrics to Surrey With The Fringe On Top from Oklahoma !! When I worked in the hospitals, we had a funny guy who used to take old needles and fasten them onto his fishin' hat. He said he was the Fairy With A Syringe On Top !!

Mr. Jody Carver -
You're not gonna believe this, but . . .

Today I was swimming in the ocean off Hollywood Beach when I felt something with my foot. I reached down to grab it and see what it was, and - it was a pair of Levis - 505s, size 32 32 with the initials "J.C." embroidered on the crotch.

I dragged them up onto the beach and looked in the pockets. There was a pocket comb, 69 cents in change, 2 rusty metal finger picks, and a plastic thumb pick. And a laminated card that said "The bearer is a boner fide member of the NO ASS ASSOCIATION OF NY" with a faded but recognizable photo of . . . . . . Jody Carver!!

There was also an Xmart tag attached that said "Recycled Merchandise - Discard if not sold by 01-01-05"

Coincidence?

I think not.

.

.

.

The problem is - I can't use them myself, as I do have an ass (and a 34" waist). So if you would like to mail me the funds to ship them to you, including additional financial consideration for my time and trouble - then I will send them right away.

If not, I understand that Howard R was last seen wearing a hat but no pants and chasing a certain PSG mogul's attractive assistant - so maybe he could use them !

Please advise.

Thanks Rick..but from your description I'm wondering if those in fact are my jeans.

My jeans had padding in the butt so that I looked as those I had a pair of "buns". The jeans that were replacements for those that were ripped off are "bogus". I would like if you can senf the jeans to me so that I can have an "DNA" test performed and if they are the right one's I will contact Johnny Cochran
and Barry Scheck, and Robert Shapiro members
of that "great team of Lawyers known as the
"Dream Team".

Something smells fishy about those jeans you found send the jeans to me. I'll contact the authorities back here. Make sure to remove the padding from the butt and send them seperate, pack the padding well I dont want those post office workers feeling my butt. Thanks pal.

Okay - I have removed the padding and packaged it seperately as per your request - but I was unable to scrape off all the barnacles, and the fishy smell may also be there to stay . .

When I first read this story 2 1/2 years ago I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever read. I just now (January 2005) read the whole thread through again to find I had not stayed "on line" long enough to read about Jody's return trip where he had compassion on the young girl who had made the mistake. If anyone wonders why I have adopted Jody as my number 1 friend, it's because of his sense of humor and his compassion for his fellow human being. (I just wish he wasn't so danged ugly!)

Jody's pants in the Pacific ocean, huh? Maybe Laci Peterson's old man is innocent afterall.

Jody, you'd better hope they don't find your horse's tracks leadin' up to that marina or you're gonna have some explainin' to do.
