John R--should have said "lower 5th string w/ AB down." Although I don't have a tunable split there the resulting C is close enough for jazz (or country). And I have become VERY fond of my E>F# 4th string raise. Yep. I'll keep all 7.

I have E-F# on RKR. I don't have a C pedal at all. My first pedal steel was set up that way and I got so used to it that I switched back even though I ordered my Carter with the standard setup. Just couldn't get used to that. My 3rd pedal is B-A on 5 and G#-F# on 6

On my S12, I have a E13 type tuning, but a lot like E9 and E6. As I have one neck it is still set up to play E9, so this may still qualify for your post, Bob...My favorite 4th Knee lever is my RRK which raises the E to F# on the 4th string and the C# to D# on the 5th string. This way I get the E9 Pedal C change, the E9 2nd string change , but in reverse, C# to D# And also use that knee for my E6 Maj7th chord wich replaces your C6 Pedal 7. That way, I never need both feet on the pedals for either tuning. My tuning is almost like a Extended E9 S12 setup, EXCEPT I put the C# in between the E and B. It does not hurt the E9 playing for me. And gives me the E6 and E13 stuff. I take out the 8th string F#, use a knee lever for it......al[This message was edited by Al Marcus on 04 November 2000 at 08:56 PM.]

I lower my 5th and 10th a half step but I am thinking about changing my setup to lower the 3rd and 6th.
