Herb, I knew Rob Stein back in the late 70's till early 80's. He bought that steel because of me. I guess I'm to blame. He was getting to be a real good steel picker back then. He also played the heck out of the six string guitar. He did a great job on flat picking, ala bluegrass style. I knew he went to Texas, but, I haven't heard from him since. John |

I bought a Rus'ler recently because I was looking for an inexpensive second pedal steel. What I got was a wonderful instrument with great sound, playability, and a lot of character. Here are some pictures: http://www.skobrien.com/rusler/rusler.htm She weighs in at 87 pounds with the case, and one look at the pictures will tell you why. This guitar has a LOT of metal in it, probably a lot more than is needed, but I just love the design of the tail pieces -- makes the guitar look like 1950's rocket ships. If anyone has any info on this type of Rus'ler, I'd be interested in knowing about it. Thanks |
