![]() ![]() The Gary Morrison steel shown above, IMHO, is one of the MOST collectable Emmonses for these reasons: 1) it's a wood cabinet wraparound. This is a RARE BIRD; Dave Robbins said it best: "Collectable is in the eye of the beholder." IMHO Dave's guitar is quite a collectible in and of itself, but since I have a couple similar to it, I'd personally want the Gary Morrison guitar more. It was owned by Buddy, though, so that adds points to its score. I personally would consider the "Blade" to be a super collectible, but only because Buddy used it on so many recordings. Likewise, "the Wagon" (the Touch My Heart guitar formerly owned by BE and Overby) would also be a collectible, though not as valuable as the others since it was, um... heavily modified Side note of no real importance: "collectIble" is a noun, "collectAble" is an adjective. ------------------ [This message was edited by Herb Steiner on 26 February 2002 at 07:37 AM.] [This message was edited by Herb Steiner on 26 February 2002 at 07:39 AM.] |

![]() ![]() Thanks for the kind words, Frank and Herb. You're right, Herb. Actually, this guitar is completely unaltered since I got it. It still has the one original knee lever, and the original volume control. Except for string changes, that's it. Well, let me take that back. My dad put those eight small pieces of white tape across the rods so he could remember which one went where. But that tape comes off. And there was one other person who altered the guitar. He left some National finger picks on the rods underneath. Other than that, it's still almost has Ron Lashley's fingerprints on it. Guess I'm not sure exactly what Geoff means with his comment about Sanford and Son. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Gary, I'm sure Geoff means that Fred Sanford was a pedal steel player. ![]() [This message was edited by Frank Parish on 26 February 2002 at 02:58 PM.] |

![]() ![]() I have a push pull that I rebuilt and refinished that I would love to show off. I have the photos in my computer but don't know how to put them out on the forum. I could email them if anyone would help me post them. Skip, I get all teary-eyed thinking about ole Emmo and have not been in contact since Emmo went North. ![]() ![]() I heard a story years ago back in South Bend about Buddy's Dad, Don, building the Emmons prototype out of all metal at the Bendix factory. Don't know if it's true, but that would certainly be a rare and collectible bird. C# |
