![]() Can anyone please provide the lyrics to this Wade Ray tune? By the way, who wrote it? Ray? I've tried the Cowpie website but they don't have it there. Thx, jc |

![]() If I had the heart of a clown I'd laugh every time you make me blue. If I had the heart of a clown You wouldn't make me cry the way you do. I'd paint a smile upon my face I'd sing as my dream ------------------

![]() We have a singer in a group I sometimes work with and he asked me to learn the music. I have the last Swing Shift CD that Buddy & Ray did "Going Out Swinging" and Curtis Potter does a bang up job vocally but I'm told that Wade Ray's original version used a different chord structure. Can anyone, maybe Herb, give me the changes Wade used? ------------------

![]() Kenny, check out Sammy Smiths cut. More ballad, less swing, but still a great cut.Its on the flip side of My Window Faces the South. Billy |

![]() Herb - Thanks for the lovely changes. You put Wade Ray's version on a tape for me years ago. I believe Emmons played the jazzy intro and obligato. Wade Ray was a phenomenal talent. I stole one of his signature licks and still use it. |

![]() "Heart of a Clown" was recorded on "The Terrific Texas Troubadors" album @ 1967 with Buddy Charleton on steel and Wade |

![]() I believe that particular cut had a great Steve Chapman guitar turnaround that just knocked my socks off. That part of my copy is worn out from trying to learn those licks. ------------------ Sj [This message was edited by Sleepy John on 12-01-99] |
