Just bought the new tribute to the Louvin Brothers this weekend - It's called "Livin' Lovin' Losin': Songs of the Louvin Brothers" - All I can say is WOW! I absolutely love every song on it. This album really showcases Carl Jackson's abilities as a producer IMHO. Oh, and did I mention that Mike Johnson is all over it? Even has Bruce Bouton on one cut.

Out of my over 1000 CD's and albums, I only have a handful that I love every song on. For me, this is one of those albums.

This album is GREAT! If you don't have it, go get it! Carl Jackson did do a wonderful job at getting singers/musicians together to make this project top notch! It's country through and through....

My introduction to the Louvins was the Razor & Tie comp "When I Stop Dreaming: The Best of the Louvin Brothers", which instantly became one of my favorites. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002Z94/qid=1065638669/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/104-6250311-6143128

And Randy Kohrs on Dobro(Scheerhorn). This dude is THE next dobro guy to watch out for. Good tone, intonation, tasty...Oh yeah, I agree, the whole CD is tremendous.

There were Three Things that made up the great sound of Charlie and Ira Louvin.

1. Great Harmony
2. Great Songs
3. Great Finger Style Guitar, either by Paul Yandell or Jimmy Capps.

Since Paul Yandell and Jimmy Capps are still with us, I think it was a mistake to have a Louvin Bros. Tribute without including them.

I don't recall a lot of Steel or Dobro on their original recordings.
