I think it's admirable that he's willing to try new things. Van Morrisson has been around now for 40 years. He would not have lasted this long of he was just re-creating his hits from the 60s.

Man I LOVE Paul Godden's playing!!
He has captured so many of the
RIGHT classic country influences.
The whole album is done like it was
late 50's to early 70's country,
but with modern recording.
Van satill sounds like Van, not Ray, or Geaorge or lefty,
But he does justice to the whole genre with his FEELING.

If you miss the old days,
the band sounds like the old days.

Funny, that an old irish rocker,
is doing country in the clasic way,
and the country players today are doing
70's rock for line dancers.

Do they still have that radio channel called Radio Luxenbourg, which waa all in English? In the 70's, that was a great source of the best new music

The SINGING is Van all the way,
he sounds like himself on country melodies.

But the music sounds like late 50's
to early 70's classic country production.
Like they seem to have forgotten in Nashville.

Just a bit of vocal chorus from the 70's style.
In general it's Van and a fine, spare band.
