![]() Can someone give me a tour of what the three steel guitars were. Nice Travis style playing by the guy who was playing the pedal steel. |

![]() I think the other doubleneck might be a pedal guitar also...the tripleneck is a Bigsby, probably belonging to Jeremy Wakefield, who was playing it on "Whispering" and "Sweet Georgia Brown". Cool stuff, Mark. There are definitely some licks to be st...uh, researched in there. --Steve |

![]() Cool deal. That video certainly has the look of anotther era- clothing, hairstyles, guitars and all. There's an interesting story behind this, and I'd like to hear it. That rhythm section is steady as a stone. |

![]() A little googling because I had no idea who anyone was, but man, was it cool. Jeremy Wakefield is the guy who plays on the Spongebob Squarepants cartoons? I really thought the 2005 thing was a typo and it was a 50's video. I really want to know the story behind the story of those things. Amazing stuff. |

![]() Jim, Jeremy Wakefield can be heard on several Wayne Hancock albums, he also has a CD with Dave Biller (he is also on those videos) called "The Hot Guitars Of Biller & Wakefield" - great stuff! Would be neat to see and hear him at one of the major steel shows!!! By the way, on one of the videos they do some great jamming on Lloyd Green's "Green Strings"! Kind Regards, Walter ww.austriansteelguitar.at.tf [This message was edited by Walter Stettner on 23 July 2006 at 12:40 AM.] |

![]() Ok guys, here's the scoop; this whole thing was an after hours jam session during the GreenBay Rockin' 50's fest last year. Like it was said Jeremy Wakefield is there with his Bigsby, Joel Patterson of Jimmy Sutton's Four Charms is the guy playing guitar and his doubleneck Emmons, the other double neck guitar is a Sho Bud ( the first one ever, originally built for Ben Keith ) and it's Jimmy Roy playing it. Yours truly is playing JW's Bigsby on Honeysuckle Rose and the no name country jam song. Different bass players and drummers sat in, including Kevin Smith and Jimmy Sutton on bass and Buck Johnson on drums. The piano player is Carl Sonny Leyland and Jonathan Doyle ( also from Four Charms )is on sax and clarinet. Last but certainly not least Dave Biller is on guitar too. There were other pickers too, it was truly a fun session, people coming in and out, swithcing instruments and passing guitars to each others. Towars the end of the night, two sax players from Ike Turner's band showed up too ( Ike did a set there earlier that night ) and even Tom Morrell was hangin' out there for awhile ( Texas Playboys also played there that night ). I think it was about 4 or 5 a.m. when I got to bed, and only because the beer ran out!! ![]() |

![]() Jussi, The no name country tune is Lloyd Green' "Green Strings", one of the first instrumentals he ever wrote. Great playing, relaxed atmosphere, looks like you all had a lot of fun!!! Kind Regards, Walter |

![]() Walter, you're right, I checked my Lloyd recordings and that's it, or at least what it was suppose to be, until we all got into it and did our dirty thang ![]() |

![]() Thanks Jussi for setting us straight on this. These clips sure had me scratching my head. The players and folks standing around were very convincing. I couldn't understand how somthing that was shot in the 50's could have modern sound equipment( speakers on stands, bass rack, amps in flight cases ect.) Looks like it must have been a fun time. |

![]() The festival was incredible, without explaining too much of it here, the best way to get an idea is to check the pictorial report here: http://www.swingandcountry.com/green_bay_rockin'_'50's_fest_ii.htm |

![]() Hey Jussi, what's up? I was surprised to find this thread and the footage of the Green Bay Jam. I'm the guy who is lost on half the tunes that Wakefield called. Jussi's great version of "Honeysuckle Rose" finds me on guitar where I belong. That was a great jam that took on a life of it's own. What started as a few steel players looking for a practice room to geek out in turned into quite a happening. Now that YouTube is out there we all have to keep woodshedding and keep on our best behavior. You never know when your clams will wind up on the internet! |
