Hi Everyone,I just got ahold of a session 400 limited which appears to be about 5 years old. The previous owner pulled the speaker and I am using the amp direct into my recording console. I would like to get a speaker for it and am wondering what you all recommend. Also, I would love to hear any recommendations for tone settings on this amp. Thanks in advance for all the help. The Peavey BW 1501-4 is the speaker that is supposed to be in it.

I personally haven't used the Peavey Session 400 Limited much at all, but the recommended settings for the steel from the operating guide are as follows;
E9th-Low(+6-12),Mid(-3-0),Shift(5-8),High(0-6),Presence(5-7). Adjust reverb to taste.C6th-Low(+6-+15),Mid(6-8),Shift(3-5),High(-6-0,Presence(3-7). Adjust reverb to taste. I feel that there are players on the Forum that will be glad to assist you with your settings.

The settings Mike mentioned are a good place to start. On the stock amp, I rolled the mids off more--it was kind of nasally otherwise. I don't change the settings for E9/C6, but I like more lows on E9th than some players. I put in a Lemay mod and it sounds great with the mid and shift near center. You have to run the amp fairly loud for it to sound its best (gain and sensitivity up halfway or so).
I recommend using the pre-EQ patch for your volume pedal, also; you'll get less tonal variation through the travel of your pedal.[This message was edited by Jeff Heard on 07 August 2000 at 05:55 PM.] |
