Can someone tell me the difference between the Evans "HV" Preamp and the Original. I have owned both and prefer the performance of the original over the "HV" model. The main difference I see is the "HV" has pots instead of toggle switches for "Expand" and "Body". If I remember correctly, the manual reccomends the controls either ON or OFF depending on your volume and tone settings settings for both models. They seem to serve as loudness controls only. HELP!! Thanks, Bob [This message was edited by Bob Knight on 02 December 2001 at 09:33 PM.] |

Bob, I would suggest that you call one of the past builders'of the Evans amp / preamp .Darrell Stephens is a real nice guy and I'll bet you would get exactly the proper and accurate answer / s to any questions you have . I've known Darrell since "way back" during the time he was the owner / builder of the Evans amps before the company was sold a few years ago. I have always found him to be very helpful with tech questions about the Evans equipment . His e-mail = aerostar@softdisk.com . Give him a shout and tell him I said Hi !!!! He is a forum member-- BTW . Hope this helps . John |

Bob, Im no electrical engineer, but as we`ll as I remember the depth is a bass boost while the expand is a overall E.Q. change boosting high`s and low`s and cutting mid`s in the 800 area the steel mufflie area for a cleaner sound. John Hughey ask for avariable on those control`s.John ask he shall recieve. The high voltage additive is a comback from the old amps posibly working like active electronic`s to give it an extra kick in the seat of the pant`s. Bob that should be enough stupidity to get those in the know talking to you. |
