And unless you're dealing with multiple speakers, or using two amps, the polarity is totally irrelevant.Useful note: In positive/negative wire color-combinations, the darker wire is almost always negative.[This message was edited by Donny Hinson on 04 March 2002 at 09:05 AM.] |

Dennis , I agree with Donny..The Peaveys come from the factory with the yellow wire to the red positive terminal of the speaker..However, the amp output, and the speaker are AC devices..So the poliarity is constantly changing back and forth from + to - at a rate determined by the frequency of the signal..So it really does not matter in a one speaker situation.. With multi speakers, they must be wired the same so they will be "in phase".. ------------------ Jerry Wallace-2001 Zum: D-10,8+6, "98 Zum: D-10,8+8,Nashville 1000,Session 500 ,Session 400 head only amp,Tubefex,ProfexII, Artesia, New Mexico http://communities.msn.com/jerrywallacemusic |

Just to muddy up the mix even more! JBL speakers are phased backwards to the rest of the industry. A positive pressure on the positive lead causes a rear-ward movement of the speaker. Not so with other speakers! So if you have a JBL and another speaker cab with it (non JBL) it will be out of phase with the JBL. A 1.5 volt battery test will identify a speakers phase quickly.
