I have an old Peavey Reno 400 (210 watt - 4 ohm) amp. I think it's the same amp as Nashville, but with a tweeter in addition to a 15". The Speaker is blown, what do you suggest I replace it with? Any suggestion is appreciated? Can I disconect the tweeter without harming the amp?
Thanks.

You could put a BW 1501-4 and have a good steel amp. I have a Reno and would like to do that. I had a switch installed to turn the horn on and off as needed. I still use it for acoustic guitar and dobro occasionally.

Thanks. The BW is very expensive, though. What's the difference between 1501-1502-1503 and 1504? Just the age? I would like to go for a less expensive speaker.

Recently, I rejuvenated a Reno 400 for a friend. Originally, it used a 15-inch Peavey Scorpian. You can buy a replacement Scorpian basket for this from Peavey (Call Mike Brown for the part number). You will be pleasantly surprised at the price, even at full retail. The hi-freq horn is a capacitive unit that has no voice coil (At least in the unit that I repaired.). The new Scorpian basket sounds good and it was extremely easy to replace the magnet on the new basket. Be sure to clean the magnet air gap with some masking tape before you put the magnet on a new basket.

The early Reno 400 amps came equipped with a specified Eminence speaker that is no longer available. However, later on in the production of the Reno, we switched to the Peavey Scorpion Plus speaker, which indeed does feature the replacable basket. I suspect that your amp has the Eminence, so you would have to change out to the complete speaker to a complete Scorpion. The item number of the basket is #00015030, the magnet number is #00010030. In Norway, the replacement basket and magnet assembly are sold separately. The screws for assembling the magnet to the "rb" are included and the whole assembly process takes less than 5 minutes.

You may contact the Peavey distributor in your country to order. Here is the info;

Hope that this helps you out. Thanks for your inquiry.
