My D10 Carter (2001) is a new axe, thanks to replacing the stock humbuckers. I had Tom Cassella do the wiring for me, and he happened to have a cellarful of Emmons push-pulls (he is a brilliant p/p tech and rebuilds them from the cabinet up), so we could A/B them...the Carter really stood up to all of them pretty well, at worst (in other words, compared to the best sounding p/p) it seemed like at least 85% there- and on it's ow(out of the basement!) I'm 100% satisfied. It's a sonic joy now, as well as being a very smooth playing instrument. Anyone thinking of making the pickup switch will be pretty darned happy, I think. No financial or other interests involved...

Pickups were stock George L's- 710 on C6 and E66 on E9.

Not sure if Mike does MSA, but he's capable of anything, an excellent tech.

What is the resistance reading on the TT's that you installed?

I didn't note the resistance, but Jerry knew they were heading for the Carter. Tom put them on the meter but I didn't take notes...

WTT pickups for Carter Steel Guitars are wound to approximately 18.4KOhms.

Jerry agreed to do this for us because we thought the standard winding of 17.4KOhms was a bit too bright for our steels.

Which is just another good reminder of the interactive relationship between guitar and pickup. After accounting for personal taste and mind's ear, what's a match made in heaven with one guitar and pickup may not be ideal for another. Like matching the right fine wine with a fine meal (Budweiser/Big Mac).
