I am thinking of putting a Black Widow in my SteelKing to make it lighter. Has anybody weighed there amp after changing the speaker. Is it worth the effort. Thanks Jim |

I tried a BW but went back to the FSK speaker. If weight is a problem separate the amp and speaker and have two pieces. There is no magic in using the original configuration. I have done this for the past year and the amp still sounds like it was designed to sound.Larry Behm |

Much lighter, the speaker box is a homemade smaller cabinet and the amp is in an effects type box. I like my amp head next to me for adjustment purposes.Having said all of that each unit might weigh 20-25 lbs. Larry Behm |

James, I sure don't think of the BW as a "light" speaker! I doubt you'd save anything over the stock Fender speaker (it might even weigh more). You could to try one of the Eminence "DeltaLite" neodymium speakers. That should save you about 5-7 lbs. I haven't tried them yet, but plan to after the first of the year. They're definitely the lightest high-power speakers you can get, and they look very good on paper. |
