Hi all,

I intend to buy a soundhole pickup for my 30s Oahu acoustic lap steel. I've been recommended the Fishman Rare Earth humbucking pickup.

Could someone please let me know the pros and cons of the humbucking Rare Earth versus its single coil counterpart?

Many thanks!

Fred

Defintely get the humbucker. I had one of the single coils in my Bear Creek for about a year but the 60 cycle hum became unacceptable and impossible to dial out. Forumite Ed Gerhard, who's known for hi s touch and tone on acoustic, tours with Rare Earth Humbuckers and likes them a lot.
