That's a nice looking job on the cabinets. However, it looks bigger than a Steel King (I've only seen one - at Bobbe Seymour's).My current thing is smaller and less pieces and my rack system is currently "collecting dust" - too many pieces to move. Just the smaller Nashville 112, which is more than adequate for the places I work. [This message was edited by Jack Stoner on 09 January 2006 at 05:13 AM.] |

Jack, it does look kind of big, the way I stacked it in the photo (and kind of cool...it looks like an old Fender Showman!). But that's not why I had it made....I usually play too far from my amp to make adjustments, so I use the head right next to me on the floor and put the cabinet back where the amp would be. The Steel King has so many knobs that really alter the sound, I found it necessary to have the covenience of having the amp head right next to me. |

I think what a lot of guys are looking for is "Lighter " .....To have an amp like this in 2 peices may be larger in size altogether, but easier to move around since it's in 2 peices ... You don't strain your back, and you have the UMPH that the Steel King gives you .... The Nashville 112 also work's great in a situation where you don't need the power of the Steel King ... It's all a matter of what your needs are ......Jim[This message was edited by James Quackenbush on 09 January 2006 at 10:05 AM.] |

The head is 25 lbs and the speaker cab weighs in at 45 lbs. I think the Steel King "uncut" is 65 lbs so it makes sense. It's hard to prove but I think it sounds fuller with the big cab for the speaker alone. |

Is the speaker cab enclosed or open backed?

Open...it's made the same dimensions as the entire SK, but it has a deeper sound because there's more room (minus amp)[This message was edited by Tony Palmer on 11 January 2006 at 04:18 PM.] |

Looks cool ...but that would mean more trips in from the car to the club/studio.I have it down to: Steel Webb Amp Rack Seat BF Twin for 6 stringer Tele pedal board guitar stand That is enough to hump around from place to place. TH |
