Would anyone know if there are any additional differences in the "Jazz King" and "Steel King" amps other than the use of an 8 ohm speaker... The Jazz King appears to be identical to the Steel King other than that one change. |

From the Same Day Music site: quote: Based on Fender's successful Steel King, the Jazz-King has a lighter speaker and a preamp specially voiced for jazz guitar

The JazzKing is 140W into 8ohm and the SteelKing is 200W into 4 ohm. |

I don't know how to do the calculations but those numbers look about right to me for the same power amp/transformer, different speaker impedance (in other words, put an 8 ohm speaker on a Steel King and I'd think you would be looking at 140 watts' output instead of 200.

Those are the figures on the spec sheet, 140 watts into 8 ohms for the Jazz King. The reason for my post being, a local music store stocks the Jazz King but not the Steel King. I thought all else being equal, I could get a fairly good idea if I liked the amp or not. Thanks to all for your input. |
