I just got my cd burner and I need to know how can I get from cass, to cd what do I need is it a special sound card or can I use the one I have now. if so where do I plug the cass, player into.. I don/t even know where to start if I need a new sound card can youall tell me a brand to buy thanks in advance Jack |

Jack, if you have time some day, why don't you just stop by my house and check out what I do. I can show you step by step and you can see whether you like it or not. If you like what you see, the program will cost you about $30.00. fred, i woulb also like to know, as i just purchased a burner also. it wont arrive until next week. if you could e-mail me instructions step by step on how to hook it up and make it work would be gratefully appreciated too as i am pretty dumb when it comes to puters. thank you much. bill------------------

There are several good threads on this subject in the computer section archive. Do a search and you should find several threads on cassette to CD or "recording" to CD, etc. |

As Jack said, there are posts in the archives. I use the MusicMatch Jukebox program, which I like really well. It is very easy to record to your computer, with either a record player, CD, or tape cassete. Just plug in the line in on your computer, bring up the MusicMatch program,and record. You can leave these recordings on your computer if you wish, they do not take up a lot of space, I have over fifteen hundred. Any time to want to burn a CD on any of these selections, in any order, you just simply highlight them, click on CD write, put in your blank CD and it does the rest. You don't have to worry about spacing, closing out the burn or anything else, and when it is done, just click print cover and it will print all the names of the songs along with the playing time. You just can't get any easier than that. I don't know much about computers, and if I can do it, any one can. You can also elect to save this list for any future CD you might like to burn, ;and you can save as many play lists as you like. All of your songs will appear on your screen in any order you wish, alphabetically, by artist, by genre, or by album name. You do have to type in this information after you have recorded the songs to your hard drive, but that's not hard. On my computer,(my wife and son have their own) I just use it mostly for music, and I have it hooked up to a 500 watt stereo amplifier, with two Alesis (monitor two) speakers which sound very good, and I no longer use my home stereo system except to learn licks on my steel, as it is handier in this way to use to back up the song, than it would be on a computer. I usually just burn a blank CD, of the song I am working on and put it in the CD player, and I can easily back up the CD, or keep letting it play over and over. Everyone likes different things and there may be better ways, but this is the most simple and easiest and convenient way I have seen to date. What I like most about it is, I mostly only have the songs I happen to like on my computer. There are almost always songs on all CDs that I do not like very well and I don't have to listen to these when I play the CD. Also when someone comes over to learn a new song or just to listen to a particular song, I do not have to dig through all of my albums and CDs and tapes searching for it. I just go to the computer, bring up the song immediately. Also, I was reading an article the other day, that Charlie Prides new recording will not be able to be copied, and that he was the first to use this system. I don't know if that will affect the recording to the hard drive or not with this program, but I don't believe it will, although it will stop you from using the Adaptec copier system of doing this. There will probably be ways of getting around this problem, but I don't know what it will be. If there is no way to copy a song from someones new CD, I probably won't be buying their CD. |

I have Creative's SB Live software package and I use the Wave Studio to manually input record the tape to my hard drive. Then I save it as a wav and burn it to a CD. It is sometimes complicated, but nonetheless worth it.
