Sometimes a link is added in plain text that spreads out wider than the default Post size and that causes a horizontal scrollbar to appear. We try to fix those URLs when we find them, but some slip through the cracks. The long URL scrolling problem can be eliminated if posters embed the actual URL into the opening URL tag, instead of just pasting it into their post, like this example: [ URL=ht*p://www.example.com/path/to/page.ext]anchor text[/URL ] I replaced one letter t with an * and added spaces inside the brackets to deactivate the link. ------------------ Bob "Wiz" Feinberg Moderator of the SGF Computers Forum Visit my Wiztunes Steel Guitar website at: http://www.wiztunes.com/ or my computer troubleshooting website: Wizcrafts Computer Services, or my Webmaster Services webpage. Hey Frank, enjoyed pickin' with ya the other night. If graphics (pictures) are too wide, over 600 pixels or so, they can cause this problem, too, depending on your monitor size and resolution.C# www.calsharp.com |

There's a quick solution to that problem for people who don't want to re-size the original. just add "width="800 after the .jpg designator and before the closed brackets. |

Wiz, I consider myself to be puter literate but don't understand exactly how to do this..The long URL scrolling problem can be eliminated if posters embed the actual URL into the opening URL tag, instead of just pasting it into their post, like this I am guilty of pasting the link as that's all I know. Thanks, Ron |

It's not just pictures but it could be just any post without anything special. For whatever reason it changes from post to post and I have to scroll across the bottom to read it all. http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum15/HTML/012625.html Like this one[This message was edited by Frank Parish on 19 July 2006 at 04:23 PM.] |

What's your monitor resolution? The large image is 1280 pixels wide - if you're not set at least that wide on your monitor, you'll get a scroll-bar. |

George Mc Lellan is the member who posted that huge photo. It is 1280px x 960px and should have been reduced to 1/2 size in a photo editor, before being posted. It also consumes a lot of our bandwidth everytime it is displayed due to it's filesize. If anybody has the need to post an image to the SGF please try to crop it and reduce it's dimensions to no more than 640x480 pixels. Thanx BTW: Details about using our UBB Codes are found here ------------------ Bob "Wiz" Feinberg Moderator of the SGF Computers Forum Visit my Wiztunes Steel Guitar website at: http://www.wiztunes.com/ or my computer troubleshooting website: Wizcrafts Computer Services, or my Webmaster Services webpage. Wiz, are you sure about this statement ? quote: It also consumes a lot of our bandwidth everytime it is displayed due to it's filesize.
surely the link is just using up the size of text on the SGF's server, it's the person viewing who sees the linked file not the SGF's BBS Prg. or SERVER. Baz ------------------ quote: Steel players do it without fretting
