I read the Flagstaff Arizona Daily News and read of Bob's passing in Surprise where he and his wife had just moved a few months ago. He often posted on the Forum and loved the steel and was a fan of Buddy Emmons among others. He had just posted this week on the song of Vince Gill and Paul's solo thinking it was John Hughey on the recording. According to the paper Bob passed away on Wednesday the 7th and was eagerly looking forward to the SWSGA gathering next week. He had heart problems for years and was 72 years of age.

Gary...
This is indeed sad and upsetting news. All of the officers and members of SWSGA send our condolences to Bob's family, and we know he is playing his steel in that great family up there!! Rest in peace my friend.

Just this morning I read of Bobs passing in the Flagstaff paper. I had a chance to meet Bob a little over a year ago here in Flagstaff and we spent a great morning playing and visiting. I Remember how excited he was to be moving to Surprise and it makes me sad to think how little time he had to enjoy the move. Certainly a great person and he loved that music.

Fred, I too spent some time at Bob's before we moved from Flag in May of 2002. He truly loved the steel and desired to play it well. The move to the Valley was going to hook him up with all the fine players and further his education on the instrument.
Yes, it's so sad that he didn't live out his dream.
