Word has come to me that Jerry suggested that he be admitting into the hospital. He was admitted on Saturday. He also requested that his "Living Will" be brought along. I will do my best to keep you informed of the outcome of this latest situation in Jerry's life.

I played my set in Dallas on Sunday morning on my Rickenbacker Frypan and I purposely played "Drowsy Waters", "Hawaiian Wedding Song" and had Rob Parker sing "The Night I Came Ashore". There was a time in my performance that I pictured Jerry sitting beside me. When I returned home at 1:00 am on Monday morning I got this sad news from Al Stotler. My prayers are for Jerry. Please keep Jerry in your prayers too. Scotty

Like George, words fail me at this time. I am also one of those whose playing was influenced by Jerry more than 50 years ago, and he will always be known as one of the Icon's of the steel guitar!

Jerry Byrd update. I talked with Kaleo today and she tells me that Jerry is still in the hospital. He has had many visitors and also has "perked up" some and may start therapy soon. Of course, this is good news, especially when tomorrow, March 9th is his 85th birthday.

Kaleo also told me that they have closed the post office box number. Mail will be forwarded to their apartment for a limited time. Scotty

Laurie and I are both praying for Jerry. He and I were on the Opry at the same time back in 46/47 -- him playing with the great Red Foley. I recall sitting by Jerry during one of their rehearsals at WSM and carrying on a conversation with hime while he never looked at the steel and never missed a note. He was one of my "heroes" back then and still is.

Jerry, you have literally thousands of friends and admirers, all of whom are saddened by your illness and are pulling for you.

Jerry Byrd update. Jerry is still in the hospital and as he has received many visitors wishing him well he is a little bit more uplifting. However, at this writing he is still not eating. He celebrated his 85th birthday, March 9th, in the hospital and we all are please with that. I will keep you updated as time goes by. Scotty

Scotty-Thanks for the update. There must be something that Jerry can eat to help him gain strength.
Maybe something like "Ensure" to drink with all the vitamins, Minerals and protein..al

Thanks a mil for the updates Scotty. I had been monitoring another message chain in *No Peddlers* with additional updates on Jerry's current challenge, ...and I overlooked checking for other message chains in other sections so wasn't aware of this one until now (Duhhhhh.....!).

A steady flow of cards to and prayers for Jerry seems most helpful at this time.

Aloha,
DT~
