I'll try to be brief but there's a bunch to tell. My wife and I went to Nashville last Fri for a couple day's music listening adventure. We were not let down.
First up, Fri afternnoon lower broadway, Legends club, music starts in the clubs at 2:00. The Bart Hanson Band, Jay Andrews on Emmons steel, and one incredible guitar player , James Mitchell, we stayed there until 6:00 , drank a few beers, and at one point when I came out of the restroom my wife was singing on stage with the band !! What's up with this !!I have to make this clear, James Mitchell on guitar ( Strat and Tele)is exhausting to listen to.. Then Thom Shepards band ( he wrote Private Malone) Fred Newell on Steel and another incredible Tele player, Jason Jordan. Stayed until 10:00. More beers..We've now been in this club since 2:00 ! Then went down the block to the Stage, Don't remember the band but the Steel player was Rusty Rhodes, very fine picker on an old MSA . OK, Sat. We went to see Bobbe Seymour at his new store, what a fine guy this Bobbe is and what a musician he is as well, I tried to teach him how to use more than two knee levers though( HA HA )Bobbe can play it all and more with two levers, amazing..He pulls strings, picks up the bar bends stuff, does all these do-dad things that are just plain incredible. Can't wait to visit with him again, we had a great visit and we got to see all those old Sho-Buds as well. Now , Sat night we went to the Opry ( 6;30 show for TV ) and that was way more than I thought it would be. We sat in the first row right in front of the Steels. great show, great playing, TW burned it up on his blonde Sho-Bud. Sat night , The Nashville Palace with Mike Sweeney, If you have never heard Mike play forget everything else and just go to the Palace and see Mike and the Palace Band. Bobbe and Mike took great care of Bonnie and I and we are really greatful. Thank you both. We never made it to upper Broadway but the players are alive well and incredible where we were, And we barely got started ! There were more clubs with Steel players but we never made it in to see and hear them .We are going back again soon for another trip, this one was most excellent. I heard great stuff and my mind is wandering into new Steel and Tele' phrases which stuck in my head. Came home Sunday AM, too bad for us, Bobbe was going to be playing the Palace for Mike..sorry to miss that !!

Tony,
Glad you and Bonnie had fun. If we knew she sang we could have had her up to render one or two. Steve Hill loves to get singers up especialy pretty ones like Bonnie.
Take care and I have your card so if I'm in Charlotte I'll give you a call.
God bless you both,
Mike

Congratulations on the great trip. I agree, Mike Sweeney and Bobbe Seymour are genuine Steel Guitar Ambasadors! Live music is alive and well in Nashville and steel guitar is well represented. I totally encourage any steelers on the forum to go and visit. The musicians are always glad to say hello and show off a little for visitors.

Hi Mike, yes, Bonnie has been singing the standards and traditionals since she was a little kid ( she's still not so big as you could see ) with her Dad who played a Triple Neck Fender . She and I fronted our band for many years up in CT and always had a great time. We really enjoyed your band , they did it all, can't wait for the next visit.
