Last year I bought a used Sho-Bud ProIII Custom from Danny Hullihan and I really like the way it plays and sounds. The Hullihans are a real pleasure to deal with and Danny is a true gentleman; thank you, guys!

I somehow changed my playing style from a hard touch to a softer touch because of this guitar. I tried to record a version of "My Elusive Dreams" which I think is a little more gentle then Lloyds version done in the sixties.
The backtrack was done with Band-in-a-Box and then imported into Sonar. The guitar was plugged into a PodXT and recorded straight into the computer.
I posted the TAB here for those who want it.http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum8/HTML/002306.html

Thanks Ron,
I am working on a couple of other tunes, but it will take some time.
If you like what is coming from the other side of the world (South Africa), I suggest you look at Nic du Toits CD. (I somehow think you have done that already )

I am also trying to play some South African tunes, but I find it very difficult because this music is vastly different from American music. Oh, well...

Sounds JUST like a Sho~bud to me pal...good going. The sound of a Sho~bud is un-deniable and makes the listener sit just a little bit closer.

Thanks Guys for all the encouraging words.
Reggie, it is a Sho-Bud ProIII Custom.

And here is the TAB as promised: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum8/HTML/002306.html

I am still working on it, so it will be finished at a later stage.
ENJOY!

To: Peter,
Very beautiful arrangement of that song.......and well played I might add. You have a good ear for the nuances of the pedal steel and I enjoyed your approach which is a little different. Clever voicings from easy positions.

On your tab I wondered about the second to the last measure.....there is no pedal A on string 10 when you have it on string 5....is that a mistake or do you have the Emmons mod I've been reading about?

Steve Benzian

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the kind remarks.
You are right about the second to last measure…it looks like a mistake.
Thanks for pointing this out.
I will update this now.

And what exactly is this Emmons Mod you mentioned?

What can I say - great tone, great phrasing, great taste. Congrats! My Pro III sounds nowhere near that good - with me behind it, that is.

Peter,
great playing, congratulations!

The "Emmons Mod" mentioned above, probably refers to B.E's latest E9 copedent. Buddy splits the A pedal with a second LKL. The A pedal only raises 5 B-C#, LL raises 10 B-C# (and lowers 2 D#-D).
