![]() I'm playing a Derby Steel SD10 with the E66 pickup and Nashville 1000amp and Goodrich120 volume pedal. Using SIT strings. My problem is I can't seem to get any bite on wound strings .They sound so flat ,no brightness to them. Tried various amp setting with very little results.Any ideas without getting ear piercing highs on the plain srings.Anyone using a Nashville 1000 ? what are your amp settings ? Denny |

![]() Welcome ,Dennis to this great forum! I play a Mullen SD-10 with a Goodrich 120 pedal and a Nashville 1000 Anp.These settings usually work ok for me. Pregain +6 Low +6 Mid -10 Shift 700 high +3 Presence +6 I vary from these from time to time but they should make you a good starting point. ------------------ |

![]() Poor (electrical) quality guitar cords can rob tone too. But, you don't want the "bite" of a Telecaster on a pedal steel. |

![]() Dennis, it has been mentioned many times on the forum: "tone is in the hands". You didn't mention if you use picks. Most players use metal finger picks. The art of "picking" the string consists of several factors such as "attack","angle","location" on the neck. Picking near the pickup gives a "sharp" sound. Picking several inches from the pickup give a more mellow sound. You can experiment and practice,in an effort to get the tone and sound you want. Turning down the "mid" control gives a sharper sound. Just practice. You will find what you want. I suggest that you don't fall prey to people selling all types of enhancement devices. Some of these are good but nothing will help your sound more than developing the "touch". I don't mean to say that you should not use "effects" devices. If you read the users comments on the forum, you can decide what is best for you. |
