Some of you may have followed my little steel guitar soap opera in this thread.

Here are the promised audio file, and short movie clip of Rusty himself in action

All Eyes Go(3.8MB mp3)- Eric Brace and dva opening for POCO 06-02-05 - dva quotes Rusty's solo from "Bad Weather" to start his solo on this song. Rusty is in the audience listening.

(ZB Custom D10-->stompbox delay-->Twin Reverb)

A Link to a tiny quicktime movie of Rusty's steel Solo to "Heart of the night"... A master at work! dva is in the audience shooting this with a digi-camera...

(Carter S10--> stompbox delay-->Twin Reverb)

Dave, your playing sounds great. You lay down a nice full accompaniment but don't get in the way of his singing. Between the steel and the percussive acoustic guitar, I barely notice the lack of rhythm section. Of course all us old Poco fans are gonna love the RY quote. ZB + Twin Reverb, that is tone.

DVA.. wow man ,you scared the crap out of me with this thread title!! .. I'm glad it was all you hoped it would be!..

Rusty is right.. you ARE a fine player!

Kind of surprising Rusty had no picks and bar!..
Like you and my old friend John Ciano, Rusty was a HUGE influence, and a lot of his stuff is stuck between my ears NEVER to leave..
Do you think that maybe steel has become "secondary" to Rusty these days??? .. Two songs??..
I have heard a few other guys mention this about Poco these days.. very little steel.. I'm in no position to comment of course..

In any case. I'm glad you enjoyed!!.. I would have been floating around myself if Rusty Young had said I was a fine player!!... good for you!!! bob

Dave,
Great playing and sound with just the guitar, vocal and PSG. Very full. After reading the story it was really nice to hear the mp3. Thanks,

Dave,

Great job! You are one fine player. I bet Rusty wishes he had kept his ZB!

Dr. Van Allen - Your choice of style, phrasing and "openness" for this tune really fits nicely with the vocal/6-string. I tried to cop a bit of it this morning during practice. Do you play roughly the same thing with the full LTH band?

While you were hangin' with Rusty, you did mention this forum, right? And he said...?

...any reaction? Was he one of the people applauding when you were given a shout-out at the end? That would really have been a "full circle" moment, wouldn't it?

Of course, now you have to tab out that solo for the rest of us. Please? -dh

roughly... with more players the verse parts fits as a texture/pad. These parts are not on the studio recording (in fact I don't think there's any steel on that cut- has to do with the logistics of a geographically challenged band), but have evolved in the live dates...

I can only assume RY was applauding- I was told by someone else he was standing and listening for a good chunk of our set...it was a full circle moment anyway

Tab the solo- hmmmmmmmm... there's a summer project!
