Who plays steel for this great country singer? This player is outstanding and certainly plays the traditional style which is great to listen to. Also what brand of PSG does he have? Thanks...for all the responses... Bill |

I believe that it's Gerry Hogan but forumite Rick Schmidt can better answer that question as he plays bass on the road with Heather--. |

Over here in the UK and Europe, it is usually my wee mate Davie Holland who's been backing her up on tour. Davie is from Bishopton, near Glasgow in Scotland. Sometimes she uses Gerry Hogan if she is only playing English gigs. Gerry is a mate of Albert Lee and plays with Albert in Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes when Albert tour Britain and Europe. I don't know who did the record sessions but I do agree that it has that authentic country feel to it. Best wishes from Scotland. |

The first few CD's that she did, Gary Brandin (of Sponge Bob Square Pants fame) was the steel player. He also plays steel on "I'll Be There" from the "Highways and Honky Tonks" CD. |

Heather had different steel players on all her CD's; and on tour it would depend on where she's at, as to who the steel player might be. Can you be more specific to what you heard?? Ricky |

To my knowledge Heather’s steelers on record are: Greg Liesz, Gary Brandon (also co-wrote a few songs with Heather), Marty Rifkin, Gary Morse, and me(only one song…...”Cry Me a River” on “ Sweet Talk, Good Lies”). There may be somebody else on her earlier High Tone releases that I'm missing. On the road (and some one-off live performances) she’s used Gary Brandon, me, Gerry Hogan, Johan Jansen, Ricky Davis, Purly Curtis, Davie Holland, Emmett Roch, Ray Austin, Kevin Ryan, Ryundi Ozaki, and Bruce Bouton. Forgive me if I've left anybody out. Yes it's true that Heather really is one of the greatest singers on the planet! She is also a major supporter of the steel guitar. Thanks for those responses. Heather is on XM Satellite Radio Channel 13 Hanks Place quite often during the day. They like her style as do I. She deserves to be a headliner someday I hope. She is simply great and is on pitch always. Once again, guys, thanks ......for the quick responses.... Bill |

I bow to Rick's superior knowledge of who Heather's steel players are / were! (However, I remember him telling me that some really fine playing I commented upon was from Gary Morse). I agree totally with him about Heather's commitment to and support for our instrument. Here's an example: in July this year, she forked out £417 sterling ($730 USD) in excess baggage charges for my steel to fly to Amsterdam! That was over TWICE the cost of my own return air-fair! (These costs are getting more and more absurd - and the airlines are becoming less and less tolerant of us and our "tools of trade"). I must say that it has been a great privilege and pleasure to work for Heather on many of her European gigs over the past three years. On all the shows I have played for her (a lot of them with Rick) I have yet to hear her sing one single note out of tune - not even one note in the slightest out of tune! She is a remarkable singer, who loves the steel guitar. In addition, she writes quality country songs that are a steel player's dream. If you want to hear some fine, fine steel (and guitar) playing; featured "up-front", and sounding, tonally, just as it used to in the '60s and '70s, get some of Heather's albums in your collection. I, too, did some gigs and some BBC and Capital Radio broadcasts with Heather in the early-'90s. I heartily concur with Gerry's comments on this super artist. RR |

Oh those were the daze. Heather is a great country singer, and she recorded the first song I ever wrote. However,I'm not a fan of her driving.

Hey Gary: I have to know what that song was........could it be 'Lovin the bottle'?....one of my all time favorites. Patty (Booker) does it so well too. I miss seeing and hearing the both of you. Nothing like the old Upbeat (Briar Patch) days in Garden Grove. Ben Rubright Ben Rubright |

Heather Myles is the modern day Loretta Lynn in my book. Great country female song stylist. Thanks XM radio for featuring this great singer every day. |

I just discovered Heather Myles and I'm an instant fan! She's the real deal, pure unadulterated, unapologetic, I feel like a beer, country. I love the role pedal steel plays in her stuff.
