Very nice Baz. What were you playing it on? There's kind of an optical illusion with the Fender in front...

Yes, Jim, the guitar is an Emmons D-10 1970 'Fatback'
(I'm playing the Fender in the other clip)
Fred, the tuning I've always used is my own sort of E6/9 maj7
Hi to lo = F# - D# - E - C# - B - G# - E - B - G#

Changes similar to A,B and C with the E-Eb and E to F etc.
Because of my unusual way of sitting and other reasons, I've got the pedals arranged very differently, over to the right where 7,8,9 would be..
You can see my FULL chopedant at :- www.waikiki-islanders.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
Not everyone's 'Cup of Tea' but it suits me..

Very nice! is that a Fender 2000? (D-10?). How hard was it to put the knee levers on that guitar?
Thanks for the clip, you sound great!

Actually Cliff it's a Fender 1000, the very one I used on all my EMI albums in the 60's
The Emmons is one of a pair I have from 1970..BUT, ALL those guitars will become redundant very soon !!
My new acquisition...

Thanks, what a nice way to start the morning. Very nice touch and tone. Good luck with the "new" Fender.... now that is a Fender I would be interested in! (even if it is keyless )

Sweeeeet! Please post a clip of that beauty once you've got it! Wow. It's cool that they kept the cable system for that one. Nice stuff!

That is a trip! How interesting that they would go with rods, but lay them out in a very similar placement and pattern as the cable guitar. Ya gotta love Fender! Very very cool guitar.

Dave I've been "Annoying" this man for the past 4 years and eventually he capitulated but the promise is that I will use it live and keep the PS-210 in the limelight.

Looks amazing Baz, look forward to hearing it, mind you if you played a plank of wood with wires attached it would sound good.Regards Malcolm

I know the guitar discussion REALLY should be in 'Pedal Steel', so I may just start a new thread there and leave this thread to discuss why I thought it was safe to get back in the water again.. and try singing with my "New Teeth"
The singing bit is in a thread here ... http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/009163.html

As you probably noticed they didn't stop me from talking !! my usual waffle, balderdash and useless information, after all who cares what the proper name for Danny Boy played as an instrumental is ?

History

The air was collected by Jane Ross of Limavady, County Londonderry, and was first published in book form by the Society for the Preservation and Publication of the Melodies of Ireland in 1855 in The Ancient Music of Ireland produced by George Petrie, in which it was listed as an "anonymous air".

Danny Boy

The most popular lyrics for the tune are "Danny Boy" ("Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling") written by the English lawyer, Frederick Edward Weatherly, in 1910 and set to the tune in 1913. The words are a love song of a woman to a man, though they are often mistakenly taken to be a call to arms, or a rebel song.

quote:
The words are a love song of a woman to a man
So why do so many of the Tenors insist on singing an "Out of Gender" song ? They can't possibly relate to the lyrics and interpret them with sincerity..

Considering the BBC ban 'Out of gender' songs by female artists, why don't they do likewise with Danny Boy ?
