I have been using a POD XT for about 2 months now and am very pleased with its capabilities as an effects processor both on stage and in the studio. But, as was discussed here earlier, the POD’s size and shape was a little difficult to manage and locate comfortably to be used by a steel player. I have come up with a unique little bracket that solves this dilemma. I have been using it for about a month or so and it works great! I have decided to manufacture a limited quantity of these and offer them first to the steel community. If you are a POD user or just have some curiosity about my design please click here and here

Feel free to email me any questions you might have and I will try to answer.

Thanks,

tommyd

I just tried the site and apparently it's down.

Just tried it again and it's back up (0839 eastern time)

Nice mounting.

TD I like it. Also check out Joey Ace's bracket on the Computer section here, see Midi keyboard post by me about 20 days ago, click on Joey' link.

Tommy,
That's a great product.
I see you selling alot of them as the ones that line 6 sells are pretty lame.
Looks like it'd work great on a mic stand, too.

Jack, sorry for the downtime. The server holding the pictures of my bracket must have taken a smoke break or something.

Jay, the clamp I'm using actually came from the stage lighting area. It is designed to support up to 45 pounds of weight and will fasten to any cylindrical pipe from 1/2" to 1 1/2" in diameter. (Note: the weight of a POD and bracket assembly is less than 6 pounds.)

Keep the questions (and orders) rolling in.

Tommy,

Cool looking mount. Can you tilt the bracket slightly to angle the POD more downward....say like a 45 degree angle? Also, is that something on your guitar legs to keep from damaging the finish? Some sort of wrap?

Hey Gaylon,

Are you back from Austalia? Good to hear from you. Hope you're still enjoying the gig with Gretchen.

To answer you questions: 1)The bracket can be rotated 360 degrees if desired. However, you must remember the convenience of mounting the POD on the guide posts also would make it more suseptible to falling off if the angle was too severe. 2)I have included a rubber tip on the setting Thumbscrew of the clamp. I am sure over time this could wear thru with overtightening. I have used mine quite a bit in the last 6-8 weeks and have had no problems.

Call me when you are coming back to Jasper or the Atlanta area.

Hey Tommy,

I am back. I'm in Minneapolis right now. We got back and went to the Houston Rodeo while everyone else was at the Dallas show. I tried every way I could to figure out how to make the Dallas show on Friday and still get to Houston in time for our show on Saturday but it didn't work out. Back to the POD mount... I guess I'll need to hook up with you when I get home and get me one of these. It looks like exactly what I need. I'll call you soon.

Here's an idea that Lee Baucum suggested doing with my POD mounting bracket. By using the leg of the pac-a-seat it gets the POD off the floor and is still within a reachable distance to be handy for adjustments.

Thanks for all the emails and your interest in my little bracket project. The first batch of units are assembled and ready to go out.

Gee Tommy,
Couldn't your wife have at least mopped before taking that picture? I think maybe you need to get a housekeeper to come in and help that poor woman out at least once a month!

Tim,
Thanks for the support and comments. Glad the bracket is working out well for you.

The design is catching on and is being well received by steel players and lead players as well.

BTW, Donna did come down to my studio and mopped the floor where I took the display photos. Life is good!

Brad and Tim, thanks for your vote of confidence in my bracket design. It seems the word is getting out and I appreciate all of the feedback I'm getting from everyone.
