JCFSGC,

May I join the club? Even on a probationary basis? Y'see, I don't have a Fender yet. (I admit that what I have is a S** B** D10.)
I don't know whether to get a stringmaster, custom, or dual pro. And I don't know what number of necks, scale length, etc. Any suggestions as to which combination of the above would get a 50's western swing tone?

Could somebody steer me to some background reading? I have a book on teles, and I'm hoping there's something on Fender steels.

I have one question I'm dying to ask: were any Fender steels made of maple?
