This site is a labor of love for what I consider a great "lost" album from the 50's of Pop arrangements featuring pyrotechnic Fender non-pedal steel, and blazing Stratocaster... I hope you find it interesting and informative.

And it is lovingly dedicated to fellow forumite Jody Carver, without whose help and musical inspiration it wouldn't exist.

I've known Jody since 1954, when my steel instructor introduced us. I had the pleasure of seeing Jody play at various clubs in the N.Y. City area and we became friends. He took me under his wing. He encouraged me to sit-in playing his triple neck while he participated in the group's vocal trio harmony. It was great to learn how to do bar crashes, boo-wahs, machine gun bar crash runs, as well as learn some great new tunings from someone of Jody's caliber.

One of the biggest thrills was seeing Jody play steel, on Broadway, for Sunshine Sue and the cast of the WRVA Old Domion Barn Dance, when they did a stint at the 48th Street theater, in the late '50's in N.Y.C. And of course, seeing him on CBS-TV (Nation-wide)when he won the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts show. First time a steel player ever won on that show.

I vividly recall the hot summer day in 1958 when Jody came to my house with a 45 rpm single of Idaho. He said it was a cut from his new album on Coral Records. (I ran out and bought the album as soon as it was available.) He then asked me to play something for him on my 3 neck Fender Custom. I did Oklahoma Stomp and he played rhythm guitar on an old beat up Stella that I had bought for $2.00 after a music store fire. It still wreaked of smoke and the paint was burnt & blistered. I had a 10 inch reel to reel recorder so we put the session on tape. Whenever I play back the tape I get a kick out of Jody's remarks "Ride With Bob" and other Wills' type hollers, with a New York accent!

I am not enamoured of Napster. It's a personal thing...a distaste for theft & a reluctance to expose my HD to the planet.
