I know that our friend, Damir, was less-than-positive about his experiences at this gig last year, but I'm enjoying myself!

It's 'early days' yet, but there's a good feeling among the cast and crew, and some interesting music to play. I admit that I feel a little isolated this far from home (2400 miles!) and three months is longer than I like to be away, but, after the dreadful year I had in 2001 with some serious medical problems, I'm happy to be back working and feeling well!

Please, if you find yourself anywhere nearby, come and say 'Hi' - the show plays every night at 8.30, and it's fun! It's nice to be surrounded with so much youthful energy and talent, even if I AM the oldest in the company.... The scenery is beautiful, and Drew Perkins (the fiddle-player) and I will, no doubt, be on the golf-course before long!

Russ Wever (who played it in 2000) advised me to 'use an old guitar' (the climate changes can be extreme, and it's semi-open air), so my old MCI is getting a work-out - it creaks a bit, but it sounds good! My 'Emmons' is safely in my room....

(Everyone says 'Hi', Russ, by the way....)

My only regret? I'm going to miss St Louis, and Buddy's going to be there....

They have great fishing up that way, if you're so inclined. I work on the power plants in that area occasionally. And they also say there's a woman behind every tree .....

Roger, is this what you envisioned when you left England for the USA?

There was always the chance that, given such a venture, I'd drop off the Edge of the World.....

It's all part of 'Life's Rich Pageant'!

How late do you play in the season? My dogs and I are planning to be around Medora in mid October chasing sharptail and pheasant.

Hi Bill - I'll be long gone by then! We finish here on Sepember 1st, I think.

Bob, I'm afraid I'll be too late to see Buddy in St louis, which is a minor tragedy! Since coming to the USA in the late-'90s, I finally (after years of hearing about it back in Britain) managed to get to the last two ISGCs('00,'01) which I loved; missing this one, with Emmons playing again, really grates! Gotta earn a living, though....

I'm sure to be back in the Carolinas, just visiting, in the not-too-distant future - I look forward to meeting up with you again!

The gig's going well, even if the temperature has been challengingly low! I've been seriously considering acquiring some woollen mittens and cutting holes in the fingers - maybe I'll do a thread on 'glove blocking'....

It's a beautiful day today, though - maybe Summer's finally reached us in the Dakotas,
