Hey, all you West Coast steelers.... I'm very close to having completed the arrangements for a steel jam in San Jose! The date is July 20th, the time is 1pm to 6pm. More details, including location, will follow. I'm posting here to ask for responses from any and all who are interested in coming. Please reply to this thread or email me at thinker@email.rahul.net .

Hoping for a really good turnout! (We'll also need somebody with a laptop and BIAB. Any takers?)

Richard,

I can flex, but it will need to be on a Saturday. It would be great to have you there, especially since you've been the host for the last several jams. Let me know....

Bill, I'm playing that night at the Shodakai Casino in Ukiah, and that's about a 4 hour ride from San Jose. The week before, my gig is a later start and it's near Petaluma, so that's at least doable. How about it everyone, does the 13th work for you? The week after, the 27th won't work for me at all. As you know, I would love to make it, if the scheduling permits. Thanks Bill, for going through all of the craziness to put this thing together. -- Marc

Ok, sounds like my first guess at a date was a flop. I want ALL you guys to be there. Let's try this: Anyone who'd like to come, please email me at thinker@email.rahul.net with a list of your available Saturdays in July and August.

Incidentally, if things works out ok at this new location, I'll try to make this a somewhat regular event. So if I can't pick a date to accommodate everybody this time around (and you know how hard that can be!) there will hopefully be other times coming up after.

Thanks!

My ISP lost its internet connection mid day yesterday and it is still down, so email sent to me has not been coming in. I apologize if it seems like I'm not responding to anyone's notes, but I just haven't seen them yet. Your messages should be getting queued up somewhere and will pounce on me when the ISP connection gets fixed (whenever that is!!!).

Neither the 14th (my wife's birthday) or the 20th is good for me, but if you postpone it for a week, I'll drive up from L.A. (if I can) and possibly bring a friend or two.

I'd like to make it also. Keep us posted for the date. I'm busy all the time, so don't ask me for input on a date.
Hey Marc Friedland, the Shodakai Casino is only 30 minutes west of where I live. What band are you playing with. It would be nice to hear some live music.

Hi, all. So far, the best alternative date I'm coming up with is Aug 3. I know it won't get everyone who has responded, but it seems to fit for most. I'll float that date for a few days on this thread and if it sticks, I'll re-announce with a new thread. Here's the table of dates I used based on the players who have responded here or by email:

http://www.rahul.net/thinker/jamdates.html

Note that 7/6 looks clear, too, but I was thinking that it's too short notice for folks (correct me if I'm wrong!!) and its part of a holiday weekend when people are probably with family or have made other committments.

Things are solidifying on 8/3, folks! Now I just need to change the classroom reservation.

Here's the announcement page:
