Hello Ann, that is one fine piece of wood,
I am thinking of trading my old Carter in for a new one, especially for the new custom
series. Steveb.

That is really beautifull!!
Reminds me of my first Sho-Bud.
I would like one but with the same Birds Eye wood neck inserts instead of the aluminum.
Is that possible??

This is exciting stuff! This company has continued to get better and better as time goes on. This beautiful wood is truly incredible. I guess I'm just a wood freak, I love any steel guitar with great wood. Bud, Ann, and John are obviously trying very hard to give the steel guitar comunity the great custom steel guitar that a great steel guitar player deserves. I don't remember this being an obtion in the past which proves what I just said about this company working hard to give the player the best quality guitar possible. Highly figured birdseye maple is the proven greatest material for tone and beauty in steel guitars, by FAR!!! John, keep this up and I'll be ordering one myself, AT RETAIL!!!!
Best of luck Carter Co. You are melting my heart! (and I love it too!)

I too am glad to see you offering "custom" guitars. I hope there is a wood neck option in your future plans.

This is good stuff!

I asked my buddy, when he was refinishing his Stringmaster, why he was rubbing onion juice on the cabinet. He said he heard that he'd get a "piece of ash that brought tears to your eyes."

Wow! This is fabulous news. Good job, Carter Steels. And this wood isn't just ordinary bird's eye. I can't wait to see a finished product. Congratulations from a wood lover.

Frank Estes' jab at our PRO models has us baffled.

Frank Estes actually said these things in his unedited post on another internet forum on July 10 2002:

quote:

I think Carter Guitars are very well made and their Web Site is second to none in the entire steel guitar industry. The people behind the company are first class.

I think the lighter design is a good idea for many people.

Carter always has the best booth at a steel show and John, Bud, and Billy Phelps are the nicest guys in the world.

When I sold my Carter to my friend, Ann E-mailed me to find out who it was and made sure that I would include the manual and all accessories that came with the guitar. That is really going the extra mile for the customer, in my book!

I only sold the Carter because I bought the Jernigan Mullen and can only afford one guitar at a time. Once I became dissatisfied with the Mullen, I knew I would only be happy with an Emmons push-pull. Nothing against those guitars, but no all-pull guitar can satisfy me. Perhaps I am nuts, but I actually have grown to like the push-pull mechanics very much and I do not see myself changing my setup as much any more.

Junior knight [sic] sounded great on his Carter 12-string last night at the NTSGA Jam.

Ann, it was a friendly jab and you know it. Note the wink and big grin faces. The customized guitar sounds like an interesting idea and I wish you all the best. I think Bud Carter is a wonderful man.

BTW, I have a video clip of me playing the Carter I owned and I may make it available, but that Carter makes me look FAT!!!

OK, here is a clip from a "live" (around 5:30 AM!) TV appearance from March 2002: Click Here. I am playing a 1999? black Carter BCT D-10 8+5 L-710 pickup on E9 through Zoom 505 (reverb only) Peavey mod Nashville 400. Licks provided by Sonny Garrish, from the record. I apologize, Sonny!

I apologize for my appearance!!! Anyway, you can hear how the Carter comes shining through, even in these ham-hands of mine! This fine guitar is now owned by a very fine player and friend in Hamilton Ohio, Ed Harper. You may have heard Ed's fine playing on the Live365 broadcast, which unfortunately, is no more. He used this Carter to make those home recordings.

Did I say that right, Ann!

Just about to walk out the door for a session on my Carter D-10, and I'd sure love to be bringing one that gorgeous! (Let's see, all I need is another 10 or 11 sessions like this one and I can afford it...) Best wishes to the whole Carter crew on the new line- I'm still crazy about mine from the mechanics to the tone and service- just great guitars. Keep it up!

Ann,
I tried to get in touch with Timeless Timbers several times last winter via their website. I filled out the forms but never did get a response from them. Would you share a way to contact this company, please? Reply to my e-mail if you wish.
Thanks a lot.

I really think this is neat! I went to the webpage for the "Custom Shoppe" and am curious. Will there be an option of a milled, non rolled aluminum neck? (similar to the Mullen) I really do like Carter guitars but just don't care for the way the necks rolled edges look. I know this is a small thing, but it is important to me.
God Bless,
Steve

Ann, The 1000 looks like the custom DS12 y’all built for me a couple of years ago. Of course I don’t have the Carter name in inlay, but very similar figured birdseye pattern. I get compliments on the beauty of this guitar every place that we perform. Great looks, tone, sustain, and playability. Glad to see you’re starting to offer these beautiful guitars. And thank you all for making mine when it was not an offered product. I wish you, John and Bud much success in your new line. And you’re correct, “nothing beats a great piece of wood” Russ

I thought at first that was my guitar, but the logo is farther to the right than on mine and the pattern is a little different. Mine is a D12.

I love B Grossman's final comment. I be a wood freak to. In several threads the question was posed to Ann, will the new Pro models be available with wood neck inserts? I would like to know myself. Beautiful looking guitar.

Hi Anne...that really is an outstanding piece of wood! How much do these custom shop steels weigh in at compared to your famously lightweight Pro line? I'm also curious about possible wood necks. Do you think you can get a D10 (or better yet a D12) and a flight case (a Dell maybe? )to weigh in under the airline approved 75 Llbs? That's asking alot from any wood axe I know, but I just had to ask anyway. Thanks...Rick

I have to agree with John Macy, is does not get any better than a cabinet built and finished by M. Giles. also Rick what airline has 75lbs weight restriction?? I think most of the one's I have been on it's 70lbs.
