This is a record that deserves to be on CD ...in fact, that NEEDS to be on CD. If not for corporate greed, it would have happened long ago.

Thank you Andy and Gregory.

I have mixed emotions regarding the interest
in the HCOA.First off I am happy that people
enjoy Johnny's playing as well as the other
boys,,George Nida and August LaMonte. But I
feel as though the buyers are stretching their wallets to buy something like this.

I dont like to see people having to pay so much money for something that was a treat for us to do,That Lp sold for $3.99 back in 58 and it hurts me to see those who are bidding on it taking such a large sum of money to bid on it and try to win it.

We (HCOA) were not re-imbursed for our efforts and that Lp is in reality a demo we made out of our own pockets. We were NEVER re-imbursed.

I feel as you do regarding the corporate structure, for the sake of those who worked so
hard on that Lp,meaning John and George & August,I would like to see that re-issued for that reason alone and nothing more.

We did it as a labor of love for the music and for each other, not for people to be drained of their money because the corporates
are playing hard ball with me. As much as Johnny and the others would be proud to know that our efforts were appreciated, they would not like to see what's happening where those few are lining their pockets with money that
they did nothing to contribute other than buy that Lp for $3.99 and make a killing on it. There were NO ego trips with those people who worked so hard to make that "demo"
a reality. They were musicians who played for the love of their music and nothing more..But it gave us a thrill to do what we did even though we know we could have done better.

There will be a HCOA CD coming very soon. And
I for one will be happy for the memory of those who worked so hard on that project. I am going to see to that.

I am sorry I feel this way,but that's the way I feel. Thanks for your nice comment. Those who are no longer with us would
be happy to know that their music meant so much to those people, but unhappy for the way it is being exploited.

I'm sorry, but I am NOT an E Bay fan.

Be well. And Thank you Gregory as well.

Support The SGF and NOT E Bay..more on that later.

It's been said before, but I must agree; eBay is a good place to sell, but; not a good place to buy. I don't like to try to win. If I want to do that, I'll play the Lotteries! Then I'll know I'm going to lose! JMHO

I know that I had seen a HCOA CD some years ago. It was before I joined the forum.

I was not familiar with The HCOA nor did I know, or know of Jody at the time.

I was at HMV in NY and I was looking for The Quintet of The Hot Club of France, and in the same bin with Django Reinhardt and Stephen Grappelli, I saw this curious CD, The Hot Club of America. I picked it up and looked at it in bewilderment because I saw the steel guitar. Unfortunately, I did not buy it. My interest in the steel guitar and dobro was not renewed until I got on the internet and discovered Brad's Page of Steel, and then this here forum.

But, there was a CD of HCOA and I didn't imagine this.

One of the 2 auctions has ended and there was
a winner. I contacted him and he agreed to send me my 5 cents royalty,,,that sounds fair to me . He was very nice,,he called me
collect.. He wanted to know if I was wearing
a hairpiece.he said he bought the Lp because
he wanted his barber to copy my rug. He thought the music was so so but it was the rug he was after.

I didnt mention I had a nose job since that photo was taken,,now I look like Paula Jones.
And the winner is ,,,,,,,,,Guido my Barber.

Jody I bid on it.
If I get it, I will put it in my system, clean it up if need be, and master it as best I can.
I will send a few copies to the forum and 3/4ths of the money goes to you and your guitar picker if he's still with us.

2 reasons.
1. I want to hear you play
2. your reasons above.
I want to at least cover expenses and international shipping,
and at least get you a nice dinner out with the Mr's.
If we get a lot of sales we can send you to Katmadu with 48 JBL's

Thanks Al,yes they were, and this is a great
segue.

Listen up you guys, when the Enemy had us surrounded, sure we were concerned, and with good cause. They looked us up and down as we
stood there unarmed.They grabbed Joey's camera,,Ace's wild.

One Towel head asked,,"Who are YOU"? DVA hollered "I AM ZUM BODY..they put the chains
on him. They thought he was important.

Another high ranking Iraqi official said to the other one of us,,where are you from?? our guy said,,Its not where I'm from sir,Its
that I'm FINALLY HERE. They let him go.

Another high in the sky Towel head said to
Howard R...who are you?? Howard replied,I'm the laundry man, I came with clean Towels

Need a Fender? a Gibson? Rickenbacker? WHAT?
So he took bids on his Beniot. Now thats the
way to wave a Towel Whew I thought this would never end. Support your local Laundry.

I will see what I can do with this gem.
But I can't afford to fly the ole coot over to autograph it for me.

I do have an original London record of the OTHER Hot Club band. Who was that guitarist Durango Rein Hard and some fiddler Steppin' Grape Ellie

This is no laughing matter, dont poke fun at
what we went through. We were in harms way while you were somewhere over the rainbow, did you find it? Joey Ace sacrificed his safety for this mission. DVA was looking for a backyard sale in Baghdad,
Jim Cohen was looking to buy a new hat so he
wouldn't be accused of looking like Crocodile
Dundee, and you take this as a joke?.

The El Quada was surrendering by the hundreds
they were waving white handkercheifs anything to save them selves,,till our hero
Howard came along with his Towel concession and saved the day.

Meanwhile for those who strived to survive.
Go wave a Towel..you'll be glad you did,

You speak of Smiley?? where was he when we needed his white (I Think ) underwear?

I have a feeling this thread is going to surrender soon....meanwhile All of you can go wave a towel and if you dont know what that means,,e mail me. www.hottowelsofamerica.com] and you think this is easy?

Egil...the above comments were posted by my friend Joey Ace,,All I wanted was enough money to pay for a memorial to my friend Johnny,,we were never paid for our efforts, are they who are doing this going to
deprive me of the only thing I have left???

And to answer your question,,NO, we have none
other than the Hot Club Of America. I was a youngster on December 7th 1941...I was old enough to understand,,I am older but wiser now.

Thank you for the "heads up".

The Hot Club Of America,,recorded in America
by Americans playing American made "FENDER OF COURSE" guitars and amplifiers. Thank you I will look into
this,,A re-issue is in the making as we speak

Thank you Dave Van Allen.

Donald I appreciate the comments....one of my most loyal dogs was a retriever that I named Djhango. The bluejays in our backyard turned him into an amotional wreck "divebombing" him while he pointed, until he eventually huddled in the garage in a fetal position until we had to "terminate" him after he attacked the mail-carrier.

Jody....I have been intending to make a "one-off" CD of your LP to send to you only, but now I'm afraid of being associated with the consequences of the "knock-offs" that are currently being marketed.

I am anticipating having one of the "Authorized" CD's when it is available!

Hi Jody
Home from work, and saw your reply.I don`t believe these people make many copies,it is mainly made by enthusiasts, for collectors. Not many sold outside Japan I guess.I am sure your official copy will sell to many, only advertise well on the forum, and spread the word.As you see from the readers, not many people know about this Japaneese copy,so continue your work with the re-release,I am sure you will get a positive response,I wish you good luck with it!If you don`t know, there were also made an 10" LP in Japan of this LP back in the fifties-on the Japaneese Coral label!
What I know!!!

Gene: I have taken a whole education from Joey off this Forum. I don't know if we could say he was the Soul of the Forum because b0b is surely entitled to that but Joey must be the Heart of it. He has been adding color to many threads such as this one and the Harry Hess Passing; so many I can't recall all of them. He makes the Forum a nicer place to visit and we should value his contributions.

And I wouldn't want to forget Roy Ayres efforts either. He has taught me a lot of things that make my visits an interesting and challenging entertainment. So here's a favorite of mine that Joey has shown me.
